WWE/NXT

Aside from the Women’s Tag titles and the confirmation of TakeOver, there was nothing truly ground-breaking from NXT this week. Granted, it was ground zero on the road to TakeOver, but even then we were expecting Kyle O’Reilly to cost Cole, and Kross vs. Bàlor was inevitable, like Thanos. Or Vince McMahon’s love of massive massive blokes.

For AEW though, all talk is on the Inner Circle War Cabinet. More on that… right now.

Hands up who thought MJF and co. were going to kick Jericho out leading to Jericho and Sammy Guevara patching things up and hunting down the Inner Circle? I know I thought that anyway. But the swerve when Santana, Ortiz, and Jake Hager turned their back on MJF’s coup to side with Jericho and a returning Guevara was a nice touch.

But bloody hell was that not even the half of it.

MJF admitted he didn’t want to take over the Inner Circle, as he was too busy creating his own, as Wardlow, FTR, Shawn Spears, and Tully Blanchard turned up to positively murder the Inner Circle.

Hager got bottled. Sammy got curbstomped through a chair. Proud and Powerful got double spike piledriven whilst handcuffed, whilst a bloodied Jericho got assaulted with Floyd the bat, then was powerbombed off the stage through two tables by JR’s pick for future world champ Wardlow.

Are they The Horsemen? We’ll see, but MJF in the Flair role makes all the sense in the world.

Winner: AEW. This was an incredible end to the show. The carnage alone was brilliant, but the new team of MJF with Tully’s boys is fantastic. I always felt Inner Circle felt a little mismatched, but the Four Six Horsemen is a group that makes sense. Put them all in suits as soon as humanly possible damn it.
