Fantasy, Logical, Dubious, Wildcard: Who Defeats Kenny Omega For The IMPACT World Title?

Who will end the Belt Collector’s reign of terror in the IMPACT Zone?

Dubious - Eddie Edwards

A drawback to IMPACT at this present moment in time is a distinct lack of a main event ‘scene’. There are players like Moose, and Sami Callihan, but that’s pretty much it.

Champ Kenny Omega is on loan from AEW. Rich Swann has dropped into the mid-card to feud with W. Morrissey. Eric Young is on the shelf. James Storm is MIA. And Chris Sabin just doesn’t really feel like a main eventer anymore.

The only other name IMPACT could call upon is Eddie Edwards.

Edwards had a quick second run as IMPACT Champion last Summer before dropping the belt to Eric Young, and since then has done little of note. However, he has maintained some semblance of a main event aura, and during his run alongside Satoshi Kojima it has never felt like Edwards was out of his depth hanging with the Japanese icon.

If IMPACT wanted a shock from left-field, they could have Edwards be the one to usurp Omega, leaving Sami Callihan and Moose blindsided whilst likely bickering amongst themselves.

This route could easily stretch out the unfriendly rivalry between Moose and Sami, whilst Eddie can put on clinics with whomever he pleases and help re-develop the main event scene. Then, when the dust has settled and everything is back to normal again, have Moose beat Edwards by any means necessary and take what he believes is rightfully his

For someone who has seemingly been around forever, Edwards is just 37, and still has a good few years left in the tank. Whilst another IMPACT World Title win for Eddie might seem a tad underwhelming, it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.
